Commission Piece - Why I Chose Crawley Town Football Club?

CTFC - Why?

For more detailed information on the history of Crawley Town Football Club and my investment in them as a supporter I encourage you to read my report that will accompany my video piece at the end of this unit.

Jim Green, Director at the time, Town Mead, (1980)
Crawley Town FC has always been a big part of my life, less so recently as I've had to move on with my studies at sixth form and later here at University, but from the age of 5 weeks I attended my first Crawley game. My Grandad, Jim Green, served as Vice President, Chairman and Director for over 20 years at the club, working voluntarily after retirement (pictured below). This meant we were always deeply involved as a family in club-related events, including being entitled to free VIP season tickets which meant me, my mum and my nan all attended almost every home game up until 2012.

Also, interestingly I worked for the football club back in 2012 when I was taking part in my Year 10 work experience. During my time there I was tasked with reaching out to people in the Crawley community and interviewing them in order to get their thoughts on the youth academy that the club were running at the time. This involved various journalistic work and tested me efficiently at being able to independently follow a set of instructions.

I figured that given my history with the club and the fact that I've gotten to know those who work there fairly well, it would be appropriate to do my commission piece for CTFC, and look forward to doing so.
