Learning FinalDraft | Steve Coombes

Scripts started as simple, numbered instructions.

Scripts used to be an easy way to see the most cost-efficient way of shooting your screenplay, e.g. Hiring a set for 2 days rather than 2 weeks. People used to schedule the shooting of a film on paper, in columns made up of Location, Actor and Camera, with each column linked to a budget.

MovieMagic came along and took over this system, meaning people could budget and schedule their film on a computer. FinalDraft and MovieMagic work together in order to ensure anyone is able to accurately estimate costs for a production and schedule it.

Reports are useful within scriptwriting, it shows you information in another way, e.g. Character reports.

In order to demonstrate our knowledge and understanding about FinalDraft/Celtx, we were told to head out and try and format a script correctly;
