Shot List | Why I prefer this to a Storyboard

"Isolation" - Shot List

I decided to base the large majority of my planning around a shot-list, as I find that a storyboard, while very useful in many occasions, didn't suit this project for me personally. Below is my outline for the shots I'm planning to include in my final trailer:

[Atmospheric/My Garden/Winter Look]

1) Extreme Close Up - Wheelbarrow plant pot, overgrown, dead.
2) Close Up - Hanging plant pot on one side of shot. (not sure which yet) - Intent to play with Depth of Field
3) Mid Shot - Panning shot of table and chairs, icy and worn.
4) Mixture of Close Up and Mid Shots - Some kind of leaf shot, I want to try and capture the 'autumn' look, emphasising cold, bleakness etc.
5) Extreme Close Up - Lock on door, covered in cobwebs + rust, perhaps broken. Depends on state of lock.
6) Wide Shot - Gate the lock belongs to, establishing the environment. Keeping things ambiguous.

[Lake Area Behind My House]

1) Low Shot - dreary pathway, littered with natural debris. Empty, no-one around.
2) Close Up - Perhaps a sign post? Something to signify the location.
3) Mid Shot - Park Bench overlooking area, maintaining depressing, cold tone.
4) Mid Shot - Between two trees, highlighting pathway, figure walks down pathway.
5) Medium Shots, Close Up and Extreme Close Ups - Lake imagery, around the water area, perhaps some ducks, helps to show the world isn't completely empty.
6) Establishing Shot - Wide view of the entire pathway area, benches included.

[Maidstone Studios UCA Baseroom/Coffee Shop]

1) Close Up - Coffee Cup sitting on the table, depth of field with Aimee (Playing Beth) out of focus in the background.
2) Close Up - Aimee's face, looking down and depressed. Dark shot, lots of shadows.
3) Mid Shot - Clock on the wall ticking, ticking continues through rest of trailer.
4) Close Up - Aimee texting, camera side on, she's sitting at a table somewhere.
5) Mid Shot - Pull out slightly, change angle remaining on the 180 degree line, establishes coffee shop area a bit more. Customers in background etc.
6) Mid Shot - Aimee pulls her sleeve back so she can see her watch.
7) Extreme Close Up - Watch face, ticking in sync with the non diegetic clock ticking from shot 3.
8) Mid Shot - Aimee taking sip of coffee, looking around the area, has she spotted something?
9) Extreme Close Up - Aimee's face, dark shot.
10) Close Up - Phone ringing, says Chris on it, cut to black.

[Roll Title Screen]

That is my general outline I intend to follow over the course of production.
