Commission Piece - Finalising the Edit #3 - Finishing Touches and Concluding Thoughts
It's All Coming Together
As I type this, I have just finished exporting and uploading the final commission piece. I have to say given the short amount of time I ended up with having, I'm incredibly happy with how this project has turned out, even managing to surprise myself to a certain degree.
I think initially going into this week I was somewhat nervous going into the edit, given the time limit and the expectation on me, however despite all of that I think that I've managed to produce something that is very close to what I had in mind when conceiving of the idea with Bruce several weeks back. I've reached out to him for feedback and he has assured me that it met his standards and far exceeded them. A pleasure to hear!
Issues I Ran Into
Unfortunately over the course of the edit there were a couple of issues that consumed more time than was necessary, the main one being the file refusing to properly encode while I was trying to export it at the end. This had me concerned as I feared that I wouldn't be able to share the file online or upload it to the course harddrive during tomorrow's hand in, however a computer restart and a fresh load of premiere seemed to fix the issue. Thankfully.
The text was also rather time consuming considering the short length of time it's featured on screen, however as mentioned in my previous blog post, I'm really happy with the aesthetic it helps establish and the sense of professionalism I think it provides. I've always been inspired by content creators who pride themselves on minimalistic branding and animation design, there's something about it that just pops to me.
Wrapping Up
Overall I'd say the edit went rather smoothly, despite the encoding issues at the end there, Premiere actually managed to get all the way through this project without crashing once which I'm considering my Christmas miracle. I've included a screenshot of the complete timeline for the final edit (pictured below), satisfaction doesn't quite do the feeling justice. Be sure to look out for a blogpost shortly featuring the video in all it's glory.
