TV News Unit | Shoot Week - Interviewing AJ

Interviewing Our Electric Car Enthusiast

Today we ventured to Petersfield in South-West England in order to interview a passionate electric car enthusiast by the name of AJ. Originally the plan was to meet him at his workplace in Camberley and conduct the interview there, however on Wednesday he contacted us and asked whether we could re-arrange it for the slightly later time of 14:30 at his residence. We of course accepted.

I was thoroughly impressed with his extensive knowledge about the topic throughout the interview, he demonstrated a clear understanding of both the advantages and disadvantages of electric automobiles. Many of the points he raised were very interesting and he spoke about aspects of the industry that we had not yet considered throughout our research. I'm excited to see what we can make of it in our edit.

As for setting up the equipment, it went rather smoothly. We were at his house for approximately 2 hours while we filmed the interview, before Alex and George went off to film some footage of the electric car itself whilst me and Andrew packed up the gear. One of the issues we ran into was the lack of a practical microphone, despite hiring out both a radio mic and a boom mic, we left the rode microphone inside the boom pole at home, therefore only had access to the radio mic for the interview. Fortunately, we were able to utilise some inginuity and hide the clip-on mic behind a bottle of wine positioned on the table. This worked out fantastic and recorded crystal clear audio from both Alex and Ajay throughout the interview.

As we left he expressed how impressed he was with our professionalism and assured us that he'd be willing to assist in any future projects should we need him.
