TV News Unit | The Edit 2: The Editing
Channel Teaser and Package Refinement
Last night we decided as a group that Brand's Hatch would offer a unique, relevant and interesting environment to do a live interview piece within, and for that reason we agreed to implement this into our piece in favour of the interview with AJ. Unfortunately I will be unable to make the filming on such short notice, it being a Saturday and me previously planning to spend the weekend with my father for a family gathering, the boys were very accommodating to this fact which I of course appreciate dearly.
As for the work that took place today there was a fair bit! As agreed upon in the group chat, I would edit the teaser trailer myself as the boys had been focussing on the package and live piece up until this point. I took this opportunity to be a little creative with the 30 second time span for the teaser and genuinely think I've got something engaging to show. Using a combination of our own b-roll, timelapses from London and b-roll released publicly by companies such as Nissan and Tesla, I put together a rough cut of a teaser during this time.
I knew I wanted music and voice over to carry the teaser so writing a short script (pictured right - click to enlarge) for this piece was important to me, that way I could record the audio when I got home using my professional studio microphone. Equally the music was just as important to me as it had to provide enough momentum to carry the audience through the teaser, but also match the demographic and branding that we've gone for. I ended up settling on "Inspired", a royalty-free piece of music from Incompetech.com (See below).
I also wanted to include a quick clip of me in the studio within the teaser as well, as a way to kind of ground the two pieces together nicely, whilst also adding a bit of variety to the entire thing. This will of course be recorded in along with the greenscreen reshoots that will be occurring early next week. The final touches to be made after that will be some clips of our social media websites and youtube page in order to visually display our social media to our audience and encourage a following. I will record these at home using my own PC as that will ensure I maintain the best quality. Those clips along with the VO will be uploaded to my personal Google Drive, wherein I can download them and implement them safely at University. One of my main concerns going into the final stretches of this project is how the resolution quality will make a difference post render, I worry that some of the 1080p b-roll we've used may come out comparably grainy to the 4K footage that the majority of the project has been shot in.
We also wanted to add to the additional b-roll that Alex and George picked up earlier that morning, with a shot of Andrew posing as a mechanic outside. Whether or not we would actually use this in our final project was yet to be decided but we figured we might as well go get the shot regardless considering it was simply a case of stepping outside.
