Unit Briefing | Professional Practice
Unit Intro
- A1 to facilitate work based learning experiences
- A2 to promote greater understanding and critical knowledge of professional working practices
- A3 to apply individual skills in whichever area we work in
- LO1 engage with and critically reflect on a work based learning experience
- LO2 demonstrate a developed knowledge and understanding of professional practice.
Skills taking forwards;
- Time Management
- Research and Development of creative content
- Online Journal Research
- Focus on chosen specialism
New Skills;
- Report writing/analysis
- Self directed schedule
- Freelance Work - Client Liaison
- Development of new industry relevant skills
- Intensive/elongated work placement - professional transferable skills
How the Unit will work:
- Helen and Laura will be leading the unit.
- Laura will assist us in securing the placements/commissions, and endure that best practice is followed at all times.
80 Hour Placement - 2 weeks
Students undertake a sustained period 2-4 weeks of work placement within a media related company, or on a media related production.
This placement should be with one organisation.
Option 2: Commission
- Students undertake a simulated professional project for an external commissioner.
- This can take many forms, but in the past has typically been a video project for a company or organisation.
- We will assist you in securing the position, but the onus is on the student to manage their time effectively.
Unit Delivery;
Support for:
- CV Writing/Support Tutorials.
Learning Packs have to be signed off for the 7th Nov
50% Written Report of 1500 - 2000 words.
50% project portfolio - online journal.
Submission:
December 14th.
