TV News Unit | Location Scouting for the London Area

London, Why Bother?

From early on in the project, as soon as we began discussing having a technology related channel, and the murmors of electric cars began circling discussions, we had an interest in going to various modern areas of London, getting b-roll of contemporary architecture and perhaps shooting various timelapse shots across the city, if nothing else but for use within our channel teasers and promotional/branding material.

Several of the locations discussed are listed below, however shoot times have yet to be confirmed as we are still working on narrowing down our interview and production dates;

The Microsoft Centre, Cardinal Place, London
Cardinal Place - Victoria

The Microsoft Centre at Cardinal Place, a mere 5 minutes from Victoria Station, is an amazing building that wouldn't look out of place in a utopian fantasy-novel. We discussed having a timelapse shot of the busy London streets with this building as a backdrop. (pictured right)

Stratford - General Area

Olympic Park, London
There are several locations within Stratford that we felt may appeal to our tech-orientated target audience, those being noteworthy landmarks such as Olympic Park, the Olympic Stadium and even The Orbit Tower. These are all great locations that make for visually striking images.

Battersea Power Station

We briefly discussed perhaps filming in and around the Battersea Power Station area, however we also recognise that filming permission could be difficult to achieve with large, privately owned areas such as this. Regardless, we like the contrast that the abandoned aesthetic the building represents, would have with our own branding outlook currently.
